SOLAR
Heat Pump Hot Water

Heat pumps are by far the most energy efficient and cost effective solution for hot water. Heat pumps save you up to 70% more on your hot water heating costs compared to your traditional electric storage tank.
With new Government incentives for heat pump upgrades in NSW, you can now also save hundreds on a new installation.
How does a heat pump work?
A heat pump uses renewable energy to heat your water, without the need for solar panels. They absorb the heat from the surrounding air and use it to heat your water. Therefore, these systems are also referred to as ‘air-source heat pumps’. These systems are more efficient than conventional water heaters despite operating using electricity. They can save money and energy while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
how much does a heat pump cost?
Heat Pumps cost more than your average electric storage heater and range anywhere from $3000 – $5000 for the unit. Despite the upfront costs, these systems are highly energy efficient and considered a great investment, saving you much more on heating costs over many years. New government incentives also apply which can almost halve the total cost of the system.
are heat pumps eligible for government rebates?
Yes. Under the ‘Small-scale Energy Renewable Scheme’, Heat Pump upgrades are eligible for STCs (Small-scale technology certificates). Rebates vary greatly dependent upon a number of variables such as geographical zoning, existing hot water system, date of install and energy output saving.
ELECTRIC
Electric Hot Water

What size hot water tank do i need?
Electric Storage Tanks come in many different sizes and hot water demand greatly varies to each individual house hold. For a general guideline, sizes include; 50L (1 person), 125L (1-2 people), 160L (2-3 people), 250L (3-4 people), 315L (4-5 people), 400L (5-6 people).
CAN I RUN MY ELECTRIC STORAGE HEATER ON SOLAR?
Yes, if your have PV (Photovoltaic) solar panels already installed on your roof then you can have an Electrician connect your Electric Storage System to your solar. Another alternative for a more energy efficient solution is to run your Electric Storage Tank on ‘Off-Peak’ through your energy provider. Off-Peak allows your system to run only within a set time period (timer) such as overnight between the hours of 12pm – 3am. Talk to your energy provider more information on ‘Off Peak’.
GAS
Gas Hot Water

Gas continuous or gas storage?
Gas Continuous Flow Systems are most popular as they are a neat compact unit fixed on an external wall. You don’t have to worry about running out of hot water as these systems heat the water only when you open a hot tap. Gas storage systems however are larger cylinders fixed ‘on-ground’ which heat a large water supply for on demand use.
iS GAS CHEAPER TO RUN?
Gas heating costs are a lot more efficient than your standard Electric Storage Systems however not as cheap as a Heat Pump. Gas systems are a great middle ground between Electric Storage and Heat Pumps.
LPG OR NATURAL GAS?
All Gas Hot Water Systems are available for both LPG or Natural Gas. You must ensure you purchase the correct system for your type of gas supply. If you are on LPG then you will have 1-2 large gas cylinder bottles down the side of your house (mostly rural properties) , and if you are on Natural Gas then you will have a Gas Meter commonly at either front corner of your property. If you are unsure then please contact us to speak to one of our Gas Fitters prior to ordering a new system.
